uMkhomazi
uMkhomazi is situated in the southern section of the Maloti-Drakensberg Park. The uMkhomazi section of the Maloti-Drakensberg Park is one of the most isolated and least explored mountainous areas in KwaZulu Natal. The area is not attached to the main escarpment and comprises of a number of elevated ridges protruding towards the Natal Midlands.
uMkhomazi is one of the few areas in the Drakensberg where one can hike for days without seeing another soul. The ideal destination for a wild demanding hike.
Cyprus Cave
Cyprus cave was formed when the underlying soil was washed away by the stream that flows over the top into a pool in front of the cave. The cave is named after the cyprus grass which grows in the area.

Kwa-Ntabamnyama is the highest peak in the uMkhomazi reserve at 2295m. The peak is 500m from Rockfall cave and 1.2km from Sinclair's cave.

A great scenic outlook of rock formations and grassy plains with almost unlimited views of the escarpment from north to south on a clear day.

Rockfall Cave is in the uMkhomazi area. The cave is 1.6km from Sinclair's Cave and is positioned in a valley which marks the southern boundary of Anondale farm.

The overhang is deep and its placement on the side of a hill near an open grassland means that it does get lots of of wind. To get to the views over uMkhomazi and up to the escarpment, head up to the top of the hill behind the cave.

uMkhomazi to Cypress Cave Hike
A hike of 2 hours (4 km's) with an initial uphill of around 180m in elevation, the rest of the hike is flat. This is one of the few short hikes in the area a small party can use the cave, which has running water nearby and sleeps six to eight people, depending on the weather.
