Jacobs Ladder is a 2 km walk along the Lotheni River to Jacobs Ladder Waterfall. With a gentler gradient than the reserve’s longer hill circuits, it offers a shorter way to enjoy the river valley and its pools.
This Jacobs Ladder is a waterfall destination. It is unrelated to the Sentinel Chain Ladders or Goere Ladders hikes elsewhere in the Drakensberg. Take care on wet rock beside the river and falls.
Explore the Lotheni area: Lotheni lies in a secluded part of the southern Drakensberg along the Lotheni River. Its walking routes explore river valleys, grassland and the mountain landscape above the camp. Read our Lotheni Nature Reserve guide for more about the area and planning a visit.
