Route description

The Knuckles Traverse links Lammergeier Cave and Tarn Cave in the Bushman’s Nek area of the Southern Drakensberg. It is a cave-to-cave leg that can form part of a longer journey through this distinctive mountain landscape.

The supplied track covers roughly 8.5 km between the caves. Returning along the same track would double that distance; the approaches from camp are separate parts of the itinerary. Arrange overnight stays and the walk out as part of the full trip.

Read our Bushmans Nek Nature Reserve guide for more about the surrounding area and planning a visit.
