Highmoor Nature Reserve
Highmoor Nature Reserve is bordered by Kamberg and Lotheni to the South and Giants Castle to the North. Highmoor forms part of the Mkhomazi Wilderness Area and is approximately 14 749 hectares in extent and boasts a huge array of rare, endemic and endangered species.
Visitors to Highmoor return again and again as there is an incredible sense of freedom emanating from the wide landscapes of mountains, grasslands and streams. Highmoor possesses seven tastefully concealed campsites which are reputed to be both the highest and quaintest campsites in KwaZulu-Natal.
Highmoor also offers some of the countries' most exciting fly fishing.

From Johannesburg take the N3 South (towards Durban) and take exit 175 toward Wembezi/Giants Castle/Estcourt. Follow the road signs towads Giants Castle Nature Reserve. After 33.5km turn left at the T Junction, after 12.2km you turn right onto a dirt road where you will see a sign for Highmoor/Glengarry (the road becomes tar again after approximately 6km - just after Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse). Follow this this road for 11.2 km to reach Highmoor Nature Reserve. Approximate distance from Johannesburg is 452km, 5 hours.
From Durban, take the N3 North (towards Harrismith) and take exit 132 toward Nottingham Road. At Nottingham Road, turn right toward the R103 (Rosetta - opposite "Ugly Duckling"). At Rosetta, turn right onto the R103. Follow the road and after approximately 37km you will see a sign to turn left onto a dirt road for Highmoor/Glengarry (the road becomes tar again after approximately 6km - just after Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse). Follow this this road for 11.2km to reach Highmoor Nature Reserve. Approximate distance from Durban is 185km, 2.5 hours.
