Drakensberg Caves
Camping in some of these caves is prohibited because of environmental impact damage, the presence of Bushman paintings in or near the caves, or the proximity of the caves to other large public campsites. The general rule is that no overnight camping is permitted in caves containing Bushman paintings. The making of fires is prohibited, and this applies to campfires in caves as well.

Twins Cave (Annex) is in the Cathedral Peak area. The cave offers reasonable protection from the weather and can accommodate up to 6 people.

Vaal Rhebok Kop’s Cave (Vaalribbokkop)
Vaalribbokkop Cave in Monks Cowl offers spectacular views. The floor is level and shelter from the rain is good. Its a large cave and can sleep 12 people.
A section of the cave does have some Bushman Paintings and is thus also referred to as Bee Shelter.

Vast Cave is in the Bushmans Nek area, the cave is 6km from Bushmans Nek offices. The hike is easy, the last bit is uphill and you will find a huge deep cave that offers excellent shelter in any weather.

Venice Cave is in the Cobham region. The cave has a level floor and offers reasonable protection from the elements. The cave is between to hills so is likely to not get a lot of sun and may be cold.

Veranda Cave is in the Mnweni area. This is a tiny cave that is exposed to the elements. The cave is about 380m South West from the top of Ifidi Pass, rather continue to Ifidi Cave, about 900m in a South Easterly direction from this cave.

Verkyker Cave is in the Garden Castle area, very near to Fun Cave on the other side of the stream. The cave floor is uneven and exposed to bad weather.

Waterfall Cave in Mnweni is behind a waterfall, hence the name. The cave offers moderate shelter and parts of the floor are level for sleeping.

Wave Cave is in the Garden Castle area, it gets its name from the wave shape of the overhang. The cave is near Curtain Cave. The cave has some level floor areas and does not offer good shelter from the elements.

Weaver Cave is in the Cobham area. The cave has a level floor and offers reasonable protection from the elements. The easiest route to the the cave is via Lakes Cave or from Mzimkhulwana Hut which is roughly 7km from the cave.
